We visited Storm King Art Center on Saturday after Thanksgiving. It was very cold and the center’s buildings were under renovation so no warm restrooom! More film photos TK.
Continue readingWe followed tradition and took photos with our hand-drawn placard announcing the first day of her continued education on the 1 line at Lower Manhattan Community School.

Lots of spring time exploring with Momo and Michi. Muki also paid us a visit from Sri Lanka.
Continue readingMomo and Dunya walked to 79th Street, had donuts on the way and took the 1 train home together. Momo got off the train at 145th and Broadway and met Michi at CVS.

Join Molly and co-host Momo as they learn Pluto’s history, talk to planetary scientist Kelsi Singer about NASA’s New Horizons mission, and even hear from the planet itself. All that plus a nifty new mystery sound!
Our sixth year starting school at MCS in the Upper School in 5th Grade. Up until now the grades were named by the students ages, eg, 9/10s, 8/9s, etc. Remember, her entire education has been on the 1 train.

After 5 years of a single earring in each ear Momo finally gets the double. No numbing agents so it was painful, according to Momo.

We spent a couple weekends up upstate this spring — here is evidence we actually got out of the city.

We took a Memorial Day trip to Dia with Shizu, Enrique and Emile. Of course the adults just ended up drinking too much wine although we were able to safely get home via Metro North.
Continue readingMomo had a harmonica, rosary, pen knife and an amulet around her neck.
We barely had snow in NYC this year. And the last several days in Ohio was quite warm so Momo and I went to the creek to see how much the ice had melted. Days before the creek was entirely covered with ice.

I could watch this on loop all day. We think this is a message Momo recorded for Ella.
Phew lots of traveling towards the end of 2022. First Hawaii at the end of November and then Ohio mid December — just in time for the greatest World Cup final ever. Here are some initial photos.

This may have been our first trip to Hawaii in November. (We visited, pre-Momo, in October back in 2012.) Sky and fam were there as well and Momo had a great time with her cousin.

Momo and I went to Sewho on a lovely, unseasonable warm Saturday and I took some photos while we were on the platform at 145th St.
Momo looking cool as ever, rocking a vintage iPod Nano.
Momo’s first day of 9/10s or 4th Grade was Sept. 9, 2022.

We did our usual photo op in the lobby with a custom made placard.
Continue readingWe finally were able to spend several days at the Snoopy House aka the Puppy House. We spent lots of time jumping off the lifeguard chair which was high enough to be scary not to so high were we could hurt ourselves — seriously anyway. Momo also roamed around the island by herself and even bought groceries. She was also not the youngest! That honor now goes to Violetta.

Just a couple of photos of the crew — in black and white — eating in the dining room. Lulu always likes to sneak onto the table give us kisses.

The end of 7/8s (aka 2nd grade) is here! Here are various photos from the last day and more.

Mateo, Daphne and Momo romping and stomping.
Continue readingWe realized that all of Momo’s schools have been on the 1 train. Here is an ongoing list of Momo’s schools and teachers.

When Momo was two years old a fellow patron at a cafe commented that Momo would be fashion designer when she grew up. She has always had a really great eye for putting things together. Recently she has taken an interest in knitting and making shoes.

A bit of cheap and safe fun has been playing with balls. Several variations include:

We were able to spend lots of time with family and pets. Needless to say we also drank lots of wine. As cases leveled out in NYC, spikes happened in the mid west, which was scary, so we self isolated as much as possible.

April and May were bonkers in NYC. We were lucky to be able to work, hunker down and eat well.

It has been three months since covid-19 hit. Which is bad because we have to stay at home for three months.

Yes, Momo finally lost a tooth, one right in front, on the bottom. Oh yes, we are back after an extended period down due to technical problems. Also, we are still locked down in upper manhattan due to the Covid19 pandemic.

Oh my gosh totally forgot to post our pre-pandemic trip to Hawaii. Little did we know what we would be in for when we returned to NYC. But we did get to hang out with the JP crew and celebrate Momo’s Shichi-Go-San.

Pictures are coming in from Japan of Momo’s cousin Skyler. Here he is at 6 weeks old.

Momo is adamant about completing the monkey bars at the dragon park.
Here she is in May of 2018.
and in August 2019…
Continue readingApu, Robot, Bobby, Falala.
Mariko made a visit in April for Easter and we had fun at the Fifth Ave hat parade. (Steve Dunaway was also in town with his son and friends.) Momo has been having fun at Ps125 for PreK as well as taking both ballet and tap classes. Promise to also update this blog more than once every 4 months.

Momo’s nickname for Papa aka Peter

Momo and Maru had a play date and enjoyed the arrival of spring by climbing trees along Riverside Drive. Michi, who also took the photos, tells us that they walked from 116 to 86th Street.
It’s spring in NYC!
We visited the Fifth Ave. Easter bonnet parade and stopped by the Japanese market for goodies.

Momo had her four year check up and checked in at three feet three inches and 30.4 pounds.

Momo and Michi are spending the end of the summer in Hawaii and Michi is providing live coverage.

Summer in Ohio! Although now Momo is mixing up Ohio and Hawaii and calling it Ohihi.

We spent a couple days with Liz, Claudio and Nata at the Snoopy House or as Momo liked to say, the Puppy House, on Fire Island. We also ran into Lori S which made the whole trip feel more magical.

Spring has arrived and we realize we have not been good about updates to the Momo blog. Here is a roll of recently developed film of Momo’s adventures uptown, including a visit from Noni and Mothers Day at Prospect Park with Muki.

We spent a sunny and warm week in Los Angeles at Ji Won’s great home in Lincoln Heights with road trips to family in Pasadena, Hacienda Heights and Newport Beach.

Momo has had ramen before, even at world renown Ivan Ramen, but she had a particularly lovely experience with this batch Michi made at home.
